Is Rashid Top Tier? SF6 DLC Character Guide Esports Illustrated

This will allow for a follow-up spinning mixer, it is also an excellent way to get out of the corner and put your rival there instead. If you perform a light Spinning Mixer while there is an air current down, the Spinning Mixer will travel across the entire screen and is completely safe. Known as the “Soaring Eagle of the Desert,” Rashid has joined the Street Fighter 6 roster as the first DLC fighter. Upon encountering Ryu, Rashid wants to fight him in a rematch while hiding his selfie stick and his cellphone camera from his back. Similar to Dan Hibiki, Rashid can be very goofy at times; he referred to Ryu as “That guy from Twitter” and his encounters with Zangief and R.

Using Air Currents

Ending a juggle with j.HP is generally a weak option, as only one hit will connect. If the first hit is stand blocked, the second hit will not hit overhead against an opponent that immediately crouch blocks. 5LK has the most hitstun of any of Rashid’s light normals, allowing it to combo into single entry system – what is it 214LK. The range is a little short, limiting Rashid’s combo options; DR~2LK momentum is needed to link into this from a low chain. These are frame advantage values when the attack hits or is blocked. If the number is positive, then the move will recover before the defender can act again.

Quick Links

A series of sweeping low attacks performed from Run that switches sides with the enemy. Create a whirlwind that incapacitates the enemy, allowing Rashid to unleash a devastating barrage of blows. Rashid is seen at the beginning, exploring the tomb of Anakaris with Azam. Then Anakaris rises and attacks the duo and nearly takes Azam to the world of the dead, Rashid saves Azam and they fight off the pharaoh but suddenly Rashid is kidnapped by Lilith leaving Azam alone.

Links and Starters

Not only does he have a true frame-one-invincible reversal with his OD Spinning Mixer (⬇️↘️➡️ + PP), but he can side-switch with both his OD Eagle Spike and his Backup (➡️ + P) follow-up to his run. Moreover, he can jump out of the corner by getting a wind current out and simply jumping through it. Finally, if you have the meter, a costly, but effective, way to get out of the corner is to use his Ysaar (⬇️↙️⬅️⬇️↙️⬅️ + K) super, as it will lock the opponent down and let Rashid jump away to safety. The light version, on the other hand, does not work well as an anti-air, but it is relatively safe, and combos off of light normals.

Game Rant

Setting up oki scenarios into 236[K] allows Rashid to follow up with enhanced Spinning Mixer for even more damage or block pressure. Refers to the frame advantage when canceling a normal, command normal, or Target Combo into Drive Rush on hit or block (abbreviated as DRC for Drive Rush Cancel). This is calculated at the moment a follow-up attack can be input, not at the moment the character can block or perform movement options. An attack that with DRC +8 on Hit can link into an 8-frame attack, and DRC +4 on Block can create a true blockstring into a 4-frame attack. Eagle Spike, when compared to Spinning Mixer, is a lot more difficult to combo into and is very punishable if blocked.

  • It is possible to use Arabian Cyclone in projectile wars, but the slow startup forces Rashid to throw his out preemptively.
  • As one can see, Rashid places a lot of emphasis on controlling the space directly in front of him and above him.
  • This prompts Zangief to have a friendly match with Rashid, who is very hesitant but reluctantly fights anyways.
  • Then Anakaris rises and attacks the duo and nearly takes Azam to the world of the dead, Rashid saves Azam and they fight off the pharaoh but suddenly Rashid is kidnapped by Lilith leaving Azam alone.

The heavy and medium versions will bounce off of a blocking opponent, giving you enough distance that it can be hard-to-punish on block. Rashid’s SA1 is an upward kick that is useful in juggles, as an anti-air, or as an invincible reversal that can help escape the corner. It has a somewhat shallow trajectory, making it weak to jumps right above him, but Rashid already has 236HP to cover this range. The timing of the cancel window doesn’t allow Eagle Spike to connect outside of the corner, but Rashid can use 214PP into Run~6K for great corner carry and a follow-up juggle.

You can use the heavy Eagle Spike to harass opponents at a distance the same way E.Honda and Blanka can. Though, you need to be careful; if you get too predictable they will start fishing for that perfect parry. Also, while Rashid does get quite some distance when this move is blocked, he is still left in a state of recovery, so fast moves with great range can punish him. He can chase them down with DR~6HK anywhere on the screen, which will beat wakeup buttons and leave him +1 on block. In the corner, another option is DR~2HP; this has massive pushback on hit or block, but allows a link directly into SA1. Rashid’s Drive Rush momentum does not carry him far enough to attempt a throw mixup even if the opponent respects these options and commits to blocking.

Rashid is a character with a unique focus on strong mobility options and unique “air current” projectiles. These air currents modify Rashid’s movement when he passes through them while jumping or performing a special, affecting the way he chooses to approach his opponent. Better yet, if you put down his OD Arabian Cyclone (⬇️↙️⬅️ + PP) the cyclone can delay a projectile as you roll under with the Rolling Assault (➡️ + K). The main thing you need to worry about here is the startup of your attacks. Timing is everything, and a faster-moving projectile may be able to catch you during the startup of both your Arabian Cyclone and your Whirlwind Shot. Keep in mind that a fighter can’t throw out a second projectile while the first one is still on the screen, so hopping over a projectile may just give you the time you need to get your game started.

And once he is in, Rashid can start to pile on the pressure and make his opponent’s life a living hell. It may only be two hits, but it hits extremely hard, and it will provide you with oki. You won’t have time to see if the Blitz Strike lands or not before you input OD Arabian Sky High as you need to input the Sky High the instant you connect with the Blitz Strike.

This attack is fast, acts as a great anti-air, and is safe on block. MK is also a nice rangy normal that hits low and leads into most of his specials, so this is another normal you should mix into your routine. Rashid’s SA3 has him performing an invincible version of his LP Spinning Mixer as he glides toward the opponent. The startup is somewhat slow, making it vulnerable to light meaties, and it’s even slower at longer ranges due to Rashid’s travel time.

Later on, he and Azam are in Russia after being told to meet Helen at the Underground Arena, and they notice that Nash walks in as well. Juri decides to test the fighting ability of Helen’s other recruit and challenges a startled Rashid. The two fight and Rashid call off the fight after being overwhelmed by Juri. Juri threatens to kill Rashid if he won’t fight seriously and Azam steps in to defend him, but Helen stops the conflict to explain of Shadaloo’s plan to use the Black Moons and her plan to foil that plot. She points out that Rashid wants to find his friend, which garners his interest and convinces him to join, Rashid agrees but muses if going to risk his life he wants to know who she really is. Before Kolin can answer, Urien appears suddenly and cruelly berates her for having a secret meeting in a place he considers a dump.
